Why a dental practice can win this.
Every number here is counted from our own files when this page is built, or linked to where it came from.
The list of named practices is short, and in most towns it is not settled. In our 40 city run on 8 September 2026, 29 cities came back with 3 or more dental names, 8 came back with 2, and 3 named a single practice. The longest list in any city was 5. In 29 of the 40 cities, no one practice was held up as the best. Meanwhile about one dentist in four, 26%, told the ADA Health Policy Institute in its Q2 2026 dental economy survey that they were not busy enough and could have treated more patients.
Then we read 366 dental home pages by machine on 11 September 2026. 84 of them belonged to practices AI named and 282 did not. The named ones say more about the work they do. Invisalign or clear aligners shows on 76% of named sites against 51%, emergency care on 70% against 52%, and the middle named site runs 1,314 words against 946. Credentials run the other way: DDS or DMD after a name shows on 37% of named sites and 48% of the rest. That is a same day count of what two groups of dental sites carry, not proof that one thing causes the other.
The plan
Ten dental jobs, in order.
One job a week for ten weeks. Each one says what to do on your practice's site or listings, and how to tell it worked.
- 01
Say the practice, the town and the work in the first line of the home page
Write one plain line at the very top. Name the practice, the town, and the four or five procedures you want more of. Something like "Family and implant dentistry in Carmel, Indiana." A person reads it in 3 seconds, and so does a machine.
How to check it workedA stranger can name your town and your main dental work from the first screen.
- 02
Give each big procedure its own page
Implants, Invisalign, emergency care and sedation each deserve a page of their own. One page that tries to hold every procedure gives the answer nothing to quote. Write what the visit involves, who it suits, and what a patient should bring, in plain words a nervous patient can follow.
How to check it workedYou can open a separate page for implants, aligners, emergency care and sedation.
- 03
Claim your Google Business Profile and fill every field
This listing matters more for a dentist than for most trades. A Google profile or Maps link was pointed at in 18 of the 20 dental answers we captured on 15 September 2026, which is 90%, ahead of the practice's own site at 80%. Set the category to dentist, load real photos of the office, and add hours, parking and payment. Keep the name, street and phone letter for letter the same as on your site.
How to check it workedSearch your practice name and see the same name, street and phone in both places.
- 04
Ask for a review after every visit, and print the count on your home page
Ask at the front desk while the patient checks out, every day. Then put the number on your own home page in plain text, because only 14% of the 366 dental sites we read show a review count and 5% show a star number. Never post a patient's name, photo or story without written consent, and never put a care detail in a review reply. HIPAA can apply to what a practice says about a patient, even in a thank you.
How to check it workedYour home page shows a review number in text, and no reply names a patient's care.
- 05
Get listed in the order the dental answers actually use
Our 20 answer study on 15 September 2026 ranked the sources: Google profile 90%, another directory or local site 85%, the practice's own site 80%, Yelp 40%, Zocdoc 20%. Work down that list in that order and claim the free spot on each one. Pay for none of them this quarter. You are not buying ads here, you are making sure every page the answer reads says the same true thing.
How to check it workedYou hold the free claimed listing on each source, in that order, with logins saved.
- 06
Answer the real patient questions in writing on your own site
Patients ask the same things before they book. WebMD's Finding a Dentist page, reviewed in January 2025, tells them to ask about office hours, what happens in an emergency after hours, fees and payment plans, whether the dentist takes their plan, and the missed appointment policy. Write each one on your site as a question, then answer it in two or three short lines.
How to check it workedYour site answers at least 10 patient questions, each one written as a question.
- 07
Name every dental plan you take and every way a patient can pay
Only 14% of the 366 dental home pages we read name any insurance in words, and only 7% say in-network. Type the plan names out, whichever you truly take: Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna. Do the same for payment plans and your in-house membership if you have one. A logo strip is a picture, and a picture says nothing to a machine.
How to check it workedSearch your own page for a plan name and find it in text, not in an image.
- 08
Make the code say Dentist, not just business
50% of the 366 dental sites we read carry Dentist markup, and 23% carry only the website theme's generic markup with no business type at all. Ask whoever runs your site to set the business type to Dentist and put your address, hours and phone inside it. It is a small job for a web person, and it does not need a new site.
How to check it workedYour page source shows the word Dentist inside the structured data block.
- 09
Ask the answer engines yourself every 30 days
Once a month, open ChatGPT and Google AI Mode in a window where you are not signed in. Ask for the best dentist in your town, then ask about implants, and about an emergency dentist. Write every practice name you get in one dated file. Our 40 city run found 3 names in the middle city, so the list stays short enough to track by hand.
How to check it workedAfter 90 days you hold 3 dated lists, and you can see which names repeat.
- 10
Close the procedure gap before you add another letter after your name
The widest gap we measured is Invisalign or clear aligners, on 76% of named sites against 51% of the rest. Sedation runs 49% against 37% and gum treatment 65% against 48%. Any credential at all does the opposite, at 44% of named sites against 54%. So list the work you really do first, and leave your degree where it is.
How to check it workedYour services list holds 14 named procedures, the middle count on a named dental site.
Our own numbers on this page: 40 US cities asked "best dentist in [city]" in Google AI Mode on 8 September 2026; 366 dental home pages read by machine on 11 September 2026, out of 435 we tried; a separate study of 20 city answers captured on 15 September 2026 that recorded every link the answer pointed at; and 8 dental agencies read on 15 September 2026. Every figure above is counted from those files when this page is built. Anything from outside our own work is named where it is used. Published by KKV Labs LLC.

See who AI names in your city today.
Every city in the list was asked the same question in Google AI Mode on 8 September 2026: who is the best dentist here. This shows the practices that answer named back. It is one answer on one day, not a ranking. Not in the list? Ask us to run yours free.

Every one of the 40 cities in the list was asked the same question in Google AI Mode on September 8, 2026: who is the best dentist here. This shows you the dental practices that answer named back. It is one answer on one day, not a ranking.
Pick a city to see the dental practices AI named there, and the date we captured the answer. The three answers you can get are below, with how many of the screened cities gave each one.
What the three answers mean
- GREEN29 of 40Several businesses named, none called the best. The door is open.
- YELLOW8 of 40Several named, but the answer puts one of them ahead.
- RED3 of 40One business only, or nobody named. The hardest kind of market.
