The pattern

Why one name is luck.

There is no empty city in this market. Google AI Mode named at least three personal injury firms in every single one of the 60 cities checked, a median of 5 per city. For a personal injury firm the risk is not that the AI has no answer yet. It is that the AI already has five other names in the answer, and the job is displacement, not discovery.

Being listed in a directory is worth close to nothing; being singled out for one kind of case is worth a great deal. Avvo appears on 16 percent of named firms' sites and 14 percent of the rest, Justia on 7 percent of both, and FindLaw actually runs backwards, 5 versus 8. But truck accident work stated in writing separates named from unnamed 93 to 73, wrongful death 93 to 75, motorcycle 90 to 68, dog bite 68 to 44. A firm can carry every directory badge in the category and still lose the dog bite question to a smaller firm that simply wrote a dog bite page.

The same logic explains why this report's own scope is limited. Nine of the ten questions published on the law firms hub touch practice areas this index never asked about: DUI, custody, divorce, estate planning, criminal defense. A firm named for personal injury five times over could be entirely unnamed for a custody question, because custody is answered from a family law page the firm may not even have. One name, in one practice area, in one city, is never the whole picture, which is the same reason the guarantee runs against ten questions instead of one.

Where does this data come from?

From our own screening, run the same way for every report. We ask Google AI Mode best personal injury lawyer in [city] in each city from a fresh logged out session, then we open the firms it names, one by one, and read their homepages. The Law Firm AI Visibility Index has crawled 875 sites and read 709 of them (685 counted after a relevance check), across 60 cities, with 297 firms named. Nothing is bought, licensed or estimated.

Can I cite these numbers?

Is a firm named in the answer better than one that is not?

No, and we do not say that anywhere. The lists are a dated snapshot of what one AI answer said on one day. They are not rankings, not endorsements, and not a judgement about any firm's work.

Why do five of these ten questions say not sourced instead of an example?

Because the AI Mode captures behind this index only asked best personal injury lawyer, never DUI, custody, divorce, estate planning or criminal defense. We would rather tell you a question is not yet checked than invent an answer for it.
