Electrician SEO for AI search: the listings and pages AI reads

The SEO version: which listings, which pages, which structured data, and what to measure.

Published September 8, 2026 by KKV Labs LLC. $1,000 a month, 3-month minimum as it takes time to show results, named by AI in 90 days or every dollar back.

Short answer

Electrician SEO used to mean winning a map pack slot for electrician plus your city. AI search asks for facts instead: the work you take, the towns you cover, what a panel upgrade or an EV charger install runs, whether you pull permits, and your licence number if you hold one. Those facts then have to match on Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Yelp, Angi and HomeAdvisor, the Better Business Bureau, your state licence lookup and Nextdoor.

Electrical contractor marketing and AI visibility are the same hygiene aimed at a different reader. Nothing on this list costs you a ranking.

45% of US consumers now use ChatGPT or another AI tool to find local business recommendations, up from 6% a year earlier (BrightLocal, Local Consumer Review Survey 2026).

What electrician SEO means when the answer is a paragraph

The old goal was three map slots and a page one link. An assistant does not show a map. It writes a few sentences, names two to five companies, and the reader often never opens a results page.

So the work moves from position to legibility. Can a model say, with confidence, that you replace panels, that you install EV chargers, that you pull the permit and meet the inspector, and that a service call is a stated price. The habit that has to change is hiding facts behind call for pricing. An assistant cannot call you, so a page that says call for everything gives it nothing to repeat.

The records AI checks before it names an electrician

Buyers ask for a licensed electrician by name, so the records that carry identity and credentials do most of the work here.

  • The state licence lookup for your trade

Every state publishes one for electrical contractors. Find your entry, check the business name and address on it against your website, link to it from your contact page, and state your licence number in text if you hold one. An official record an assistant can reach is worth more than any sentence you write about yourself.

  • Google Business Profile

The primary category matters more than the extra ones. Add the services, real hours, the towns you cover, photos of your own work, and answer the questions section yourself.

  • Bing Places

ChatGPT search runs on Bing. Without a Bing Places listing, one of the three tools we measure starts from nothing when it looks you up. Free, quick, and skipped by almost everybody.

  • Angi and HomeAdvisor

Heavily cited for home services. Make the name, address, phone and service list match the rest of your records, whether you buy leads or not.

  • Yelp and the Better Business Bureau

Two records people and models both check. Claim them, correct the hours and the phone number, and keep the service list in step with your site.

  • Nextdoor

Where neighbors already recommend an electrician in plain words. Claim the business page and keep the service area and hours accurate.

Write the business name, address and phone once, exactly as it should appear, and paste it into every record. Identical everywhere beats everywhere.

The pages that answer what customers actually ask

Electrical questions split in two: something is wrong and it feels unsafe, or something new needs installing and it has to pass inspection.

  • Job pages

Panel upgrades, EV charger installation, rewiring, generator installation, lighting, troubleshooting. One page each, answering in the first three sentences.

  • A cost page

Ranges for a panel replacement, an EV charger install and a standard service call, with what moves each one: the amperage, the run from the panel, the age of the wiring, the permit fee. How much does it cost to replace a panel is asked constantly, and a range beats silence.

  • A permits and inspection page

Whether you pull the permit, which authority inspects the work locally, how long that takes to schedule, and what the homeowner has to do. Do you pull permits has a yes or no answer, so give it one.

  • A safety page

Warning signs worth a call: breakers that keep tripping, warm outlets, a burning smell, flickering across the house, an old fuse box. Say which of these mean stop using the circuit and call today.

  • A page for each town you serve

The housing stock, the panels you see there, the local inspection process. If you cannot say something specific about a place, do not make the page.

Every page needs a short answer at the top and an FAQ block at the bottom in customer words. Why do my breakers keep tripping. Can you install an EV charger.

The structured data an electrical site should have

Markup does not buy a ranking. It removes ambiguity, and ambiguity is the reason an assistant skips a business.

  • Electrician or LocalBusiness on the homepage and contact page, with name, address, phone, opening hours and the area you serve.

  • Service on each job page, so a panel upgrade page reads as an offering rather than as prose.

  • FAQPage on every question block. It is the highest return markup on a trades site because it hands a model a matched question and answer.

  • BreadcrumbList so the shape of the site is clear, and a Person block on the owner page with the licence number as a credential if you hold one.

Validate the templates once. A single broken block disables markup across every page that uses it.

Reviews, mentions and what to measure

Reviews are read as text, not as a score. They replaced our panel in a day and handled the permit and the inspection is a sentence an assistant can use. Great work, five stars, is not. Ask on the day the job passes inspection, and ask the customer to name the job.

Mentions from somebody who is not you carry weight: a local news story, a sponsorship page. Electrical contractor marketing that earns one real local mention a quarter does more than a pile of cheap links, which can hurt a young domain.

Measure the way a customer does. Pick ten real questions, run them in a fresh logged-out session in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode, and record who is named. Repeat the same ten every 30 days. The number that matters is how many name your company.

The short version

What to do this week.

Six things, in order. None of them needs a developer, an agency or a budget, and every one of them is checkable by you.

  1. 01Write the business name, address and phone once in a text file and make every record match it exactly.
  2. 02Find your entry in the state licence lookup, link it from your contact page, and state your licence number in text if you hold one.
  3. 03Claim Google Business Profile and Bing Places first, then Yelp, Angi, HomeAdvisor, the Better Business Bureau and Nextdoor.
  4. 04Publish a page each for panel upgrades, EV charger installation and troubleshooting, answering in the first three sentences.
  5. 05Publish the cost page with real ranges, and the permits and inspection page with a yes or no answer.
  6. 06Run ten customer questions through ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Mode today, and diary the same ten for 30 days from now.

Questions

What owners ask about this.

Is this different from regular SEO?
It shares most of the work: a fast site, one page per job, records that agree, fresh reviews. The target differs. SEO wants a position in a list of links. This wants your name inside a written answer, which rewards stated ranges and a clear permit answer.
Buyers search for a licensed electrician. What do we put on the page?
Publish the number, not the adjective. State your licence number in text if you hold one and link your entry in the state licence lookup, so a reader and a model can check it at the source. Keep the business name on that record identical to the one on your site.
Do we have to publish prices for panel work?
You do not need a fixed price list. You do need ranges. Say what a typical panel replacement and a typical EV charger install run in your area, and what moves the number.
We do mostly commercial work. Does this apply?
Yes, with different pages. Property managers ask assistants the same way homeowners do, about response time, service agreements, code compliance work and after hours coverage. Write those pages instead of the homeowner ones.
What does this cost if we hire it out?
We charge $1,000 a month with a 3-month minimum, because earning a place in AI answers takes that long, and we get a business named in AI answers within 90 days or refund every dollar. The pages, the listings and the structured data stay yours either way.
