The finding, in three sentences

Google AI Mode named 225 managed IT companies across 50 cities, 4.5 per city on average.

We read 3,898 MSP homepages. 12% show a price, and 82% carry structured data of any kind.

The widest gap between the named companies and the rest: Google Tag Manager installed, 72% against 37%. That is a reading on one day, not a cause.

The findings

Four things the data actually shows.

Each one is something you can check on your own site in a minute. Every share is read from the 3,898 homepages we counted.

49 of 50

Cities where AI named three or more IT companies

We asked Google AI Mode for the best managed IT services company in 50 US cities. The answers named 2 at the fewest and 6 at the most, 225 names in all. In most cities a company that wants in is joining a short list, not starting one.

72% and 37%

12%

Show a price or link a pricing page

Owners ask AI what managed IT costs. 12% of the 3,898 homepages we counted show a price or link a pricing page, and 19% say they charge a flat or fixed monthly fee. An answer about cost has little to read.

82%

Carry structured data of any kind

Structured data, the hidden labels that tell a machine what a page is, sits on 93% of the named companies' homepages and 82% of the rest. 35% say in the markup that this is a business at all.

The answers

How many IT companies make the answer.

In every city we typed the same thing into Google AI Mode: "best managed IT services company in [City, ST]". The 50 answers named between 2 and 6 companies.

The list is the whole answer for that question on that day, in the order it was given. It is not a ranking and not a review of any company.

Citation

Use any figure on this page. We ask for one thing: name KKV Labs as the source and link to this page, so a reader can see the date and the method.

Download the city data (CSV). Every city, every company the answer named, and the date.

The city sample
50 US cities across 30 states. Our list of managed IT companies has 900 websites in them, 2 to 40 per city, and we read 799 of those homepages. That is the sample behind the city table.
The AI answers, and the engine rule
One question per city, "best managed IT services company in [City, ST]", asked in Google AI Mode from a fresh logged out session on October 28, 2026. We wrote down every company the answer named, in the order it named them. A city is in the index only when it has a Google AI Mode answer. 10 more cities were asked the same question in ChatGPT only (Birmingham, Boise, Columbus, Kansas City, Louisville, Raleigh, Richmond, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and Tampa). They are left out, so every answer here comes from one engine.
The homepage reading
Our list of US managed IT companies was built from Bing Maps listings for "managed IT services" and "IT support" and their homepages were fetched on October 28, 2026. Of 4,473 sites we counted 3,898. 8 turned the fetch away and 543 gave back nothing we could use or could not be confirmed as the business on our list.
What the reader reads
The homepage HTML only: known scripts, links, markup, words and the alt text of images. A company can use a tool without it showing here, so every share is a floor. robots.txt and llms.txt were not read in this run. A site is counted only when its own words or links show IT work, which dropped 24 of 3,922.
Named versus unnamed
The named group is the 98 counted sites whose company Google AI Mode listed in its own city's answer and whose name matched a company on our list in the same state. The other 3,800 are everyone else. The comparison shows what the named group happened to have. It does not show why they were named.
How a city was coloured
By the length of the answer alone: three or more companies named is open, two is tight, one or none is tough. 49 of the 50 cities named three or more.

Caveats

What this data cannot tell you.

Read these before you quote a number from this page. They are the limits of the run, printed here so nobody has to find them later.

A same day comparison, not a cause
Companies get named for reasons a homepage cannot show: their Google profile, reviews elsewhere, years in town, size and who links to them. Nothing on this page is a ranking factor, and nothing on it is about the quality of any company's work.
Named companies not on our list
The answers gave 225 names. Only the ones that matched a company on our list could be read, 98 sites. The rest stay in the city table, which is built from names, and are left out of the named versus unnamed comparison, which is built from websites.
Everyone else is mostly outside the index cities
Our list covers hundreds of US cities. Most of the 3,800 unnamed sites are in cities nobody asked AI about, so they were never in a position to be named. They make the reading bigger and the comparison looser.
Franchises and national firms
Some named companies are franchise locations or national providers. A franchise location page is read as its own site.
Small bases on some rows
The named group is 98 sites, so one company moves a named share by about 1 point. Quote the shares with their site counts, and never as twice as likely.

Questions

What people ask about this data.

What is the MSP AI Visibility Index?
A first-party count of MSP AI visibility: which managed IT companies Google AI Mode named in 50 US cities, and what we could read on 3,898 MSP homepages. Nothing is bought, licensed or estimated.
How many IT companies does AI name in a city?
4.5 on average, 2 at the fewest and 6 at the most, across 50 cities. Every other IT company in that city is left out of that answer.
Do MSP websites show their prices?
Rarely. 12% of the homepages we counted show a price or link a pricing page, and 19% say they charge a flat or fixed monthly fee. When an owner asks AI what managed IT costs, there is little on these pages to quote.
Does a Microsoft partner badge help an IT company get named?
We cannot see that it does. A Microsoft partner claim is on 21% of the named companies' homepages and 11% of the rest. Clients look for it, so it belongs on the page, but it is a reading on one day, not a cause.
Can I cite these numbers?
Yes, free of charge. Name KKV Labs as the source and link to this report so your reader can see the date and the method. The city table is on the page as a CSV file too.
Is a company named in the answer better than one that is not?
No, and we do not say that anywhere. The lists are a dated snapshot of one AI answer on one day. They are not rankings, not endorsements and not a judgement of anybody's work.
