The pattern

Why one name is luck.

There is room in the answer. Across 50 cities, Google AI Mode named 2 managed IT companies at the fewest and 4.5 on average. So the answer reads more than one company, and the question decides which.

Here is how two common claims sit on each side. Years in business is stated on 45% of named sites and 39% of the rest. A Microsoft partner claim is 21% against 11%.

Pages that answer one question can read differently. An industries page is linked on 37% of named sites against 23% of the rest, a case studies page 28% against 12%, and a blog 80% against 61%. This is a count from one day, not proof that one thing causes the other.

Where do these numbers come from?

From two of our own runs. On October 28, 2026, we asked Google AI Mode for the best managed IT services company in 50 US cities and kept the names it gave. We then read 3,898 managed IT homepages by machine, of 4,473 on our list. Every share on this page is counted from those files. None of it is bought.

Can I quote these numbers?

Yes, for free. Name KKV Labs as the source and link to this page, so your reader can see the dates and how we counted.

Does being named mean an IT company does better work?

No. A list of names is what one AI answer said on one day. It is not a ranking, and it says nothing about the quality of anyone's work.

Where do the observed examples come from?

From our city run. Where a question on this page was asked word for word in Google AI Mode, logged out, we quote how the answer opened in Tulsa, OK and list the companies it named. It is one answer in one city on one day, so the same question in your city can name others.
