Questions

Quick answers, and the tool for each

How many tons of AC for a house?
As a rule of thumb, the ENERGY STAR chart puts 1,400 to 1,500 square feet at 24,000 BTU per hour, or 2 tons. The size you install should come from an ACCA Manual J load calculation. AC tonnage calculator
How do I calculate superheat?
Suction line temperature minus the saturation temperature at the suction pressure. R-410A at 118.4 psig saturates at 40°F, so a 50°F suction line is 10°F of superheat. Superheat calculator
How do I calculate subcooling?
Saturation temperature at the liquid pressure minus the liquid line temperature. R-410A liquid at 318.6 psig saturates at 100°F, so a 90°F liquid line is 10°F of subcooling. Subcooling calculator
